Where does he get those wonderful toys: The making of the Spider-Larry toy

Back in May 12, 2009, I did a sketch of some crazy characters. (See it here) On that day Cyclopee and Coneheeghost were born. They've become staples of this here blog. Well, Spider-bastard was also born on that day. His story has evolved since and his name has changed to Spider-Larry the G-string Hunter! He is a g-string aficionado and loves showing off what his mama-spider gave him.

Anyway, I put my head together with my buddy and sculptor, Oscar Cedillo, and he began work on the Spider-Larry toy. If you'd like to see Oscar's other fine work, go to his blog. He's also available for hire. We're going to wrap this puppy up in time, but for now enjoy the making of, and let me know what you think.

What other characters would you like to see as toys?

This is great stuff. He's an awesome sculptor. I'd love to buy one when it's done. You should do all your characters. Why stop at one?

So Dennis, I like the character, and the sculpt looks amazing. Great idea. From what I know about toys though, this will be hard to rotocast with 6 arms, they will probably have to be separate in the box. The packaging will be huge if you intend to ship it with all arms attached. Have you thought about the color - pad printing might be hard with the appendages. Marketing wise, the name is a bit long and I'm not sure it will be a hit with the toy crowd...."spider bastard" would be shorter, better, more of hit....IMHO of course. :)

Thanks to everybody for commenting! I appreciate you taking the time.

@Cindy - you know, if I worried about selling this thing, we would never have fun with it. We just wanted to do something creative. So we did. We're going with Spider-Larry. The rest is just an after title. Kinda like Batman: The dark knight. The size shouldn't be an issue, especially when I think of Dave Pressler's Angry Clobber Monkey. Again, this is just to see what we could accomplish. And by we, I mean Oscar. He out did himself on this and it shows his talent and detail. If we do toys down the line, then maybe this might be one. At this point were having fun and challenging what can and can't be done. If anything, maybe we might change things in the industry. Who says there HAS to be a formula to this? That would be boring.
