9 Years: A Sketch Inspired by My Wife

Last night I stayed up sketching and it dawned on me that on the 19th of October, my Wife and I have been together for 9 years. That amazed me, only because we've only been married for two and a half. With all my goals and dreams I'm working on, I realized what a crazy world I've brought her into. Then I imagined what that would look like drawn by me, so I started sketching and took my pens out. My head is crawling with one-eyed birds, monkeys who steal underpants, bunny ghosts, vampiric lima beans and things like that, so it excited me. I just played on the page and when I was done, it inspired me to make this sketch my next illustration. I don't know what to call it yet, but it'll come to me.

In the meantime, enjoy this work in progress inspired by my lovely Wife, who to this day makes me feel like the luckiest guy in the world.

Awwww....that's sweet. I might've barfed in my mouth a bit, but that's just the cynic I'm trying to strangle. :)

Congrats!!

Think you've already titled it.
"this work in progress"

Thank your Lovely Wife.

p.s. I seem to remember back in the day (myspace) when a certain cursing pony and a Bear took all the kudos.

Congrats to you. It's nice to know that she inspires you still. Here's to many more happy years together for you two!

@david Thanks, but only 85% of the time.
;)

@Tricia From what I read on your blog, I completely understand what your body must be going through. For that I apologize and thanks! :)

@Skylar Dude, I think you named my illustration. I think "This work in progress" sounds pretty awesome.

@Citizen Rosebud Thanks so much for the kind words. And thank you visiting the blog. I hope you come and visit often. I try to do a little bit of this and a little of that to keep it interesting. :D

You're creative, talented and a good husband. Very fun illustration!

Wow, thanks, Beth. That's very nice of you. 2010 has been my year of being a better husband. I strive to keep my work and life balanced because she deserves that. I lost sight of that for a moment. She's been my best friend for more than half of my life.

Ahem... how bout those Dallas cowboys...?

What can I say except it is a lovely illustration and the post shows how much you care. I remember the Tweet when you said you were doing this at 12.30 am. Enough said!

By the way what has been your wife's reaction?

@heather Thanks! I determined to make this one real special.

@Susan That's write we were tweeting back and forth that night. My wife likes it, but the finished piece will wow her.

have you thought about using your sketches on t-shirts?

Tanoshiboy said...

Yes, I have, Chris. I did a line of t-shirts back in '05, but it failed. I'm learning from that mistake and hoping to do it again, this time with my characters and sketches. Thanks for dropping by! Come back again.

That's so sweet! That probably wouldn't work on my site. My husband is most likely not going to be the inspiration for a women's fashion/style article...haha. But you reminded me that our "1st date" anniversary, which was 11 years ago, is coming up next week.

Thanks for sharing!
