So today's post is a little personal to me. When I was in high school, I was in love with being in love. I thought having a girlfriend was the best thing ever. Silly, right? Well, I grew out of that just recently. JK! :)
What I longed for back then was the popular and pretty girl, but as I grew older I realized the girls that did like me and appreciated me were the cute nerdy girls, so this sketch is a little tribute to them.
Thanks guys! Enjoy the sketches

Cute nerdy girls rock, and so do your sketches.
I like the way people like you or Heather or TJ call them 'sketches' or 'doodles'. To me that means you can just whip em out off the top of your head in a short time. And if that's the case, I'm that much MORE jealous of you all. :)
@ Tricia - his sketches are even cuter in real life! I've seen the sketch book in person and I'm amazed too that his "sketches" look like finished art.
@Dennis - your nerdy girl is too cute! Now I have to go vote and make you draw something else. How the heck do you find any time at all this time of year to draw?
Fantastic image. Well done the white touch. She would be an appealing girl friend, he, he.
@vanessa Hey you made the first comment. That's awesome. Thanks!
@tricia Thanks Tricia! That's cool of you to say but sometimes it's not that easy. For example, this one took me about 40 minutes to really flesh out. Why? Cause I was sitting at the DMV and could barely concentrate with all the madness going on around me.
@heather Thanks! I ask myself that same question. That's really the goal of this challenge, to make time. Le sigh...
@tomas I think so too. :)
awesome sketches! i cant wait to see the rest!
Thanks for visiting, Melissa. I appreciate it.
Heehhe feeling in love is a good feeling, it doesnt' matter when you're young or old. I like ur sketch a lot! So cute.
SWEET!!! You ready? Tomorrow, we have to take on ZOMBIES. I'm scared.
Your cute nerdy girl also looks like she has some spunk Dennis. Did you do many sketches in school?
@Sarah Thanks. I meant more like being in love with the idea of what love is. When you're a 14yr kid like me, you take it a little far. :)
@Romidion *shifty eyes*
@That's all I did in High school. I started as soon as 5. :)
HOLY COW PIES, BATMAN!!!!! THIS IS AWESOME. Sorry to be shouting but I LOVE THIS!!!!! I love the nerdy girl and her curves. Seeing stuff like this makes me wish that more of the finished product could retain the liveliness of the initial sketch.
Hey, and thanks for coming by my blog again to cheer me on. It means a lot.
What I love about your sketches are the stories you tell. These bring you characters to life. The "reality" of any situation is what taps into my emotions hence letting me "feel" what I see! By the way... where does "tanoshiboy" come from?
@Jennifer So glad you liked this. And thank you for coming back. The shouting doesn't bother me. :)
@Keyuri I'm glad you noticed. The name came from a project I was working on (still actually) and was looking for the word fun in japanese and "tanoshii" was it. Long story short, tanoshiboy became a nickname. :)
Dennis do you realize the girl in the drawing resembles you? :) I'm not kidding....what's your subconscience telling you???..
I don't see the similarities. But to each his own. :)
I like that. I like it more that she is a nerd, 'cause geeks shall inherit the earth! also I like the white :)
"Yay" for cute, nerdy girls! They become queens of whatever realm they choose after high school. Here's a thought, Dennis, from the granny of a special needs kiddo. How about creating characters with hearing aids, wheelchairs or other unique equipment mixed in with the character's special cache? Could be a whole new world...
@Kate that's definitely different. Who knows? Nerds are cool, why can't kids with disabilities?
I like the idea of a 5 day challenge which takes you back to your roots. I do not know if it is too late to create some type of logo for the group that shows up on LinkedIn. Now that would get some attention. Ever hear the one about the pretty girl who sat home on Saturday night since no one asked her for a date? How about the one about the nerdy girl who sat home waiting for a date? Love the sketches.

"Nerd" is in the eye of the beholder. Why do I recall making this same comment before - was it on another one of your posts? Have you used the word "nerd" before - here? LOL. Great sketch and great message. You rock Dennis!
WOW! Very cool blog. Fantastic illustrations.
@Donny Thanks a lot and thanks for dropping by.
